Post-illness recovery meals and snacks?

I have just had the displeasure of three days and nights of the worst diarrhoea and stomach cramps that I've ever had the misfortune to suffer. Although I am slowly taking on liquids and some BRAT foods (banana, rice, apple-sauce, toast), I am curious to hear about anyone else's favourite recovery foods for this and similar types of ailment?

My own personal recovery snack has always been crispy non-smoked bacon, hot dry toast, and lashings of tomato ketchup. This together with a big mug of strong sugary tea is unbeatable imho. Not sure why I always crave the bacon sandwich but I guess it could be linked to my body needing the salt as well as all the carbs and protein?

I recently had a bout of the tummy flu myself.

The next day I was feeling much better, and went back to my normal eating habits. However, I did eat way more than usual, since I only logged around 600-800 calories of food/drinks that went into me (and usually I met again 30-60 minutes later). Whenever I'm recovering from illness, I focus more on refeeding, upping my calories by a couple hundred, and eating anything my body can tolerate to compensate.

Bacon sounds like an awesome recovery food though! Nom nom nom.
