In pain and cannot move my head left or right...

Yesterday I did Day 2 of 30 Day Shred and then 45 min of Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds 3 mile video. My neck was in pain while doing over head press and ab crunches. It feels like I am straining something. I did my workout in the evening yesterday around 6 pm. I went out to Buffalo Wild Wings and the entire time I was in pain. I could not move my head left or right. I knew that I was going to feel worse today. I slept okay but it hurt to move. When I woke up it was hard to lift my head or even move it. Now during work it is just really stiff. I keep rubbing my shoulder and back really close to my neck. Kinda like massaging it.

Is this a tear or did I pull something? Should I wait to exercise? Has anyone experienced this? Is there anything that I should do?

Sounds like you pulled a neck muscle. Honestly I do this like every 6 months or so when I'm doing lat pull downs or something else that puts stress on my neck...it happens so easily when you just move it in a certain way. It sucks and will probably take a few days to subside, just take Aleve or something like that, and stay away from any upper body exercises that put stress on it.

    RICE

    Rest
    ice
    compression
    elevation

if it doesn't go away in 2-3 days see a specialist.

I am guessing when you did some of the ab work in 30 DS you might have pulled a bit on your neck. I have done that before and had similar pain to what you are saying.

Pain = STOP what you're doing

With any luck you've just pulled something and will recover in a few days, check your form while doing these exercises (perhaps rather than crunches consider planks)

Thank you so much everyone for the advice. So I take it I should get some rest. Will it be okay for me to do a light walk like at 3.0 mph? Or should I just rest up and put my heating pad/or ice on it.?

I do not know why I did not stop. Guess it was not as painful while doing the workout, then it is now. I am just focused and now I have to take a break from the program cause of this.
