Can anyone help? I have gone sugar crazy in the last couple of weeks. I'm in desperate need of some suggestions for snacks and breakfast. Those seem to be the two worst times for me. At work there is a candy drawer six feet away from my desk. I think if I come better prepared maybe I could stay away from all the yumminess in that drawer.

So bring on your ideas for great healthy snacks and healthier breakfasts.
Thank you!:flowerforyou:

    The first step is admitting you have an adiction. Yes, sugar works on the brain just like any other drug.

    Try adding more protien to your diet, as some times when you do not get enough, your body will crave sugar instead.

    Crystal Light makes sugar free candies that seem to stave off my cravings. I keep them in my desk drawer and eat a couple when I feel like I need a sugar fix. 4 of them are 25 calories. I also just buy plain old sugar free candy. It's a little bit higher in calories, but it satisfies my sweet tooth without wreaking havoc. Sugar free Werthers are my favorite. Good luck!

    I can relate. I started making this South Beach recipe for breakfast. I make and freeze a batch on Sunday, then put a couple in the fridge to thaw the each night for breakfast in the AM, then microwave in the AM. I find that if I have protein for breakfast, I feel more full and less sugar crazed. This recipe is very adaptable, I've substituted sun dried tomatoes, other veggies, other cheeses.

    South Beach Quiche Cups

    * 3/4 cup liquid egg substitute
    * 3/4 cup low-fat shredded cheddar
    * 1 10-oz. package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and all water squeezed out
    * 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
    * 1/2 cup chopped onion
    * 1 teaspoon hot sauce

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix everything together and spoon into sprayed muffin tins. Bake for 20 minutes or until set.

    Snacks I like: hummus and veggie sticks, low fat cottage cheese, low fat cheese sticks, hard boiled eggs, rice cakes and Ryvita (British) crackers (with light Boursin or Philly herbed cheeses OR peanut butter and tsp of honey w/ fruit). Natural popcorn (no butter or low butter- I buy the 100 cal microwave bags). Hope these help!

    WOW! Thanks for the tips, I'll add these to my new list of go to goodies. The quiche cups sound really good too!
    I like the healthy snack selection, I unfortunately can not have anything with artificial sweetners so the snacks you listed are perfect:)
