Muffintop shrinking but hips wider?

Hey all! Need some input here. I've been doing spin/kettlebell and crossfit classes for about 2 months. It seems my legs and arms are getting toner and my muffin top is shrinking but it almost feels like (when I try on shorts) my hips are wider and my legs are bigger? I took measurements but the inches are about 1/2 inch less than January. Is this all in my head because the muscle is tighter than "fat"?

    Hips don't get wider without extensive and expensive and very very painful surgery.


    Odds are you have water retention and you're waist looks small- which means your lower half looks bigger- or more solid.

    Well, obviously if your hips are less inches than they were then yes, it's all in your head. Measuring tape doesn't lie.
