I have decided to stop

Hi all,

I am going to stop dieting. I am going to stop weighing, counting and calculating. I am going to stop making my myself miserable.

After once again a failure and a binge episode I have decided to stop doing what I have been doing for 15 years unsuccesfully.

I had this thought: the only thing that has kept me "fat" (or unable to reach my goal because I am not overweight) is dieting!!!

I am 38 and for the last 15 years I have invested practically most of my time and money in endlessly searching for the right diet, dieting, coaching, counceling and food and all that leading up to binge episodes and increasing my weight......... I cant remember or even imagine the days (except binge days) were I did not count what I was eating. With MFP I thought I had finally found the answer and yes in the beginning I did well and I really like using the site and the friends I made but I have realised this is not going to bring me where I want to be .
So, after a talk with my husband I have decided to stop. I have gotten rid of the most important obstacle which is the scale. I do NOT want to weigh myself anymore. I put my food scale in the cupboard. I stored all my diet books, magazines, reports and info in the garage. And the most dificult part; I am going to try to listen to my body and stop counting!!
I have never tried it this way and it scares me a lot but all the other things I have tried I know don't work and I have been analysing myself since I started MFP and I see that all my binge episodes are related to restriction, limitation and obsession over the numbers.
I owe it to myself to try it this way. Who knows, I might end up being a super intuitive eater :-)..... I any ways, all the odds are on my side and i have a strong personal factor in my life (my oldest daughter) to stay motivated. I am going to make it!!

Thank you to my MFP friends. You are the only ones who make me hesitate my decision.... Keep up the good work guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck to everybody else :-)

as long as you eat food you cook yourself (and if you can grow yourself) and keep it well balanced with lots of fruit, vegetables, different meats and regularly with less snacking in between (and if you do try to do it on fruit and nuts etc) and watch your portion control (as in force your eyes not to be bigger than your stomach) and get exercise when you can (walk don't drive when you can etc) then you can hopefully throw of the shackles of feeling as though you are constantly tied to a diet (even though the above is actually a diet (such a misused word i think))

    good luck and stay healthy

Sure. Binges are often a result of dieting. Watch this documentary to get more clarity:

Let me know what you think about it.
