Sorry but all I can contribute is that I hate, hate, hate lunges. Every time I've tried them I've had issues. I just don't do them any more.

A few things. squats and deads on the same day is fine for a while, as you keep getting stronger you may find the need to do them on different days.
prehab and rehab, look up agile eight on youtube
and ditch the trainer. I think 5 x 5 would be better than what he has you doing now.0
