Nuts

I've read on here that nuts are a good source of protein. Please could you advise me on which ones are probably best for this, along with the nicest tasting. My favourites are pistachios and peanuts, but haven't come across any yet that are plain - except for peanuts when they are covered in chocolate instead of salt. Thanks.

Do you have a health food store near you? A lot of them have a bulk foods section with raw nuts. Alternatively, check the baking aisle at your grocery store. They often have raw walnuts and almonds. As far as taste goes, I'm no help. I like most nuts, with a slight preference for walnuts and pecans.0

I wouldn't say they are the greatest to use to up your protein, adding them to salads, yogurt, etc will give some extra protein in your diet, but they are also high cal so you have to watch the amount of nuts you eat.
Better protein sources, eggs and lean meats.0 -
They're a better source of fat then protein - but they're still delicious! (Because of the fat... nom nom nom.) I really like raw almonds as a snack or in oats. One ounce has about 160 calories, 14g fat, 6 g carb (3g fiber) and 6g protein.0

They are a great source of fat, with a bit of protein in, I wouldn't rely on them for protein!0 -
They're quite calorie dense... there are much better sources for protein that won't leave you as hungry.0

Thanks. It was just in case I got a case of the munchies in the evening and knowing that yoghurt wouldn't keep it at bay. Also, I tend do use skimmed milk, but read that almond milk is good for you too, what's your opinion on that and are there more cals etc in it?0

Fat free Greek yoghurt... Low carb, no fat and loads of protein, much more filling than normal yoghurt.0 -

^^^ this ^^^ although I eat a lot of raw nuts too but just to get some added fats & a bit of carb. You can go to www.nutritiondata.self.com to plug in almost any food and get the Nutrition Facts (like labels on the side of packaging) as well as some extra information like glycemic load, etc.0 -
Thanks. Thankfully I always have some 0% fat free Greek yoghurt in which I mix with summer fruits to fill me up when I'm at work - for some reason I only want snacks when there, never at home, with the exception of Friday and Saturday nights.0
