Well....it's certainly not anything I would look at as long term or sustainable. Honestly, if I were put on a liquid diet for a week losing weight would be the last thing I worried about.

If you're in a calorie deficit you'll lose weight...

I think that people are misusing (which leads to confusion) the word 'diet'. A diet is the way that you eat; it could be a diet to lose weight, a diet to maintain, or just your general diet consisting of sustenance. Liquid only is not a diet, that is a fast In the past when I've done fasts for about a week I lose about 2 pounds because I over-do the juices to ensure that I'm getting appropriate nutrition; otherwise it'd be a lot more. Depending on the severity of the fast you're trying to do, you could lose a lot more; it'll all come back, so, don't bank on it for long term weight loss benefits.

Edit: Seen the word 'ultrasound' and thought 'baby', then reread and had to edit the post lol

Doing it per the doctor's order is one thing. On the other hand, I can name a number of personal friends that have done various liquid diets over the years, lost a ton of weight, then packed all it right back on. I don't think I can't name one person that's kept it off. The most recent example is a co-worker and his wife that did medifast shakes. They looked awesome after a few months. Not so much now. I figure the reason is that liquid diets fail to teach you how to eat normal foods in reasonable amounts.
