I have been using MyFitnessPal for a week now and I'm trying to lose 2 pounds per week so I'm supposed to consume 1200 cals. per day. However, on some days I consume around 1300 calories. I don't exercise much , but my I have negative 400 net calories UNDER weekly goal. Does this mean that I'm losing or gaining weight?

Hey Lauren,
Now I'm not exactly an expert, but from what I've gathered (and has been working for me), is that if you're taking in 1300 calories and your goal is 1200, you need to at least work out to burn 100 calories to break even. If you're taking in 1300 calories, and coming in at 400 calories UNDER your goal, you would've burned 500 calories working out, yes?
If that's the case, you're on the the right track for weight loss.0 -
2lbs per week to lose 13 total pounds is rather aggressive. The recommended rate is closer to .5 lbs per week.0
