NSV - Pet in hot vehicle

I got in my walking today in an unexpected way.

As I was walking to the local building centre, I heard a dog barking from a nearby vehicle. It was sunny and 28 degrees Celsius. I approached the vehicle which did not have any windows open. The building centre's staff began announcements for the vehicle owner to report to the service desk, to no avail. Twenty minutes went by - no one showed.

Now very concerned, I again walked out to the parking lot to see if the vehicle was still there. The man was just loading his supplies and two children into the vehicle. Fortunately, the small dog was still alive. (I won't get into what I said to him or his lame response.)

Back at home, I have just researched what I will do next time:
- alert staff of establishment (I did)
- alert local society for prevention of cruelty to animals - many have an emergency number
- if situation warrants (pet in distress) call the police

Perhaps we can prevent a needless tragedy.

Thank you for listening.
