I feel very happy, I work at tesco and therefore get staff discount, plus a £10 off all electricals coupon, plus £25 worth of clubcard coupons I've saved, I can get a fitbit flex for £37!!! For all of you who's got one, how great are they?
Are they worth having if you're 25+% way through your journey? (I still have just under 100lbs to go)
And I'm joining the gym in 2 weeks and I know it would be worth seeing how well I'm doing.

  • Hi,

I saw your other post. Great job on the life changes. What have you been doing in order to lose so much weight? Also did you every get the Fit bit? I get so frustrated with the other pedometers out there they always reset when they are in my pockets and i never get an accurate account of my progress for he day. If you did get the fit bit could you tell me how you like it?

I like the fitbit zip. MUCH cheaper, just as accurate, and I don't need to measure my sleep, especially inaccurately.

I love Fitbits but you should know going in it's not going to track your gym workouts well unless they consist of walking, running or maybe a dance or steps class. It's basically a really fancy pedometer. And the Flex might have issues even tracking walking well if you grip a treadmill rail since it reads your wrist's movement.

    Have fun and good luck!

I have a Fitbit One and love it. Is it a magic device that is responsible for my weight loss? No, of course not. For me though its a device that gives me a readout on how active or not I am in a day - and this is something that has been very good for me. I'm lazy by nature. I admit it! But I'm no longer giving into that tendency, and using the Fitibt I make sure to get my steps, and very active minute goal accomplished each day. I don't stress over cardio, though I do get in cardio in order to meet those goals.

And the leaderboard/friendly competition bit is a nice touch.

Got my Fitbit for Christmas and I'm down nearly 35 pounds since then. In all my on-again, off-again trials with losing weight, being healthier: this is the first and only time that I really feel like I've transitioned to the lifestyle rather than just being on or off the wagon. I have surpassed the temporary goal (150 pounds) I always set for myself and have admitted for the first time ever that I can AND WILL reach a final goal of 130-135 pounds, depending on what I think of my body once I get there.

Steadily losing about 1 pound a week on average now, aiming for 500 deficit plus a little spare - to account for inaccuracies in burn estimates and logging. Fitbit works great with MFP. The duo makes the process simpler in my opinion.
