Hello

I was wondering how good 80/10/10 is good for weight loss? I have around 30 or so pounds to lose, is anyone trying it?

The only thing "good" for weight loss is a calorie deficit. How you choose to spread out you macros is completely up to you.

I'd also want to know what's in the macros, like good/bad fats & good/bad carbs, & your micronutrients (fiber & sodium etc.)
  • Hi

I don't really understand this too well as I am new here (sorry) I would be eating fruit and vegetables (say a banana for breakfast, two bananas, some strawberries and blueberries for lunch, snack would be a smoothie of mango and pineapple and the dinner of sweet potatoes with broccoli and carrots and after if i'm hungry some more vegetables, I haven't got much fat in my diet at the moment)

    Thank you.

You'd have a lot of trouble meeting calorie goals with that intake. You'd be lucky to hit 1,200.
If you're only doing 811 (I'm assuming raw vegan until 4?) to lose weight, the weight may come back after you come off this when the weight is gone.
If you're doing it with the intent to stick with it, I'd suggest watching some raw vegan channels on Youtube. I'm not going to try to talk you out of if (even though I don't agree with raw veganism/811 due to how restricting it is), but there are some people on there who have normal intakes and maintain healthy figures. Some have meal plans and recipes, so you aren't just eating bananas and broccoli every day. Megan Elizabeth and FullyRaw Kristina are two I've watched for smoothie recipes.
  • Hi

I am not a vegan I just can't stick to a diet, I have a very sweet tooth haha so I decided to go 80/10/10 if I can for a month or more to see if it brings any results then after ease normal food back into my diet slowly.

80/10/10 is outside the AMDR--the medical community sees more health risks which such a diet.

    AMDR ranges--

    Protein: 10-35%
    Fat: 20-35%
    Carbohydrate: 45-65%

Why not simply eat the "normal foods" you are already eating--but make small changes, such as cutting down from a Venti to a Tall at Starbucks, or sneaking in more fruits/vegetables and whole grain foods? The name of the game, if you want to keep the weight off, is to make changes you can accept long-term.

40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20% fat at a macerate calorie deficit has worked really well for me and my team.

    "and my team" Lol

Why would you ever calculate macronutrient intake based on percentage of total calorie intake? That's not how your body works. You need a certain gram amount of each macronutrient based on your body weight and lean body mass

Oh and I almost forgot to mention, 80% of your total calorie intake from carbs is laughable and that's how you develop insulin resistance. Good luck with that

Watched a documentary BBC Horizon - Sugar vs Fat - where they had two twins try high carb and high fat diets. At the end of the month, the one on the high fat diet became pre-diabetic while the one eating sugary snacks was fine.

    Small sample. Non-Scientific. But interesting.

Yea I saw that "documentary". It was a joke haha. I'll stick to the science.

    80 10 10 is talked about a lot on 30 bananas a day....

If you read my food diary you will see I am not a raw food vegan. However, I heard about 30bad from some other place online. I really enjoy fruit, especially bananas. The idea of eating an unlimited amount of anything sounds desire able to someone like me who can get a bit binge-y.

Anyways, from what I've read, 80/10/10ers tend to run into issues with bone health and dental decay, especially if they switch from toothpaste to a plain water rinse.

Anyways. None of this is scientific, just stuff I've read online. Enough former raw folks complained of tooth issues to scare me away.
