Does anybody know if those cleanse things help?

I keep reading about them and i have a friend who is doing the lemonaide diet and she has lost about 9 lbs. ( but i think she's crazy, i read that diet and it sounds wicked nuts!!)

But if there is a safe way (and non expensive, on a very tight budget:blushing: ) to elimante toxins to help with the weight loss journey I'm really interested.

I strongly recommend a natural laxative as a regular. When you use a natural laxative, it doesn't send you running a marathon to the toilet  LOL. It just helps you go 1-3 times a day easier than normal. And that way, it's a maintenance program, like the whole purpose of changing your lifestyle rather than focusing on a temporary diet. Otherwise, you'll pay alot to get cleaned out, and then what? As much as you may try to eat healthier, you'll always incorporate some processed foods, and some red meat (some of us), etc....and you want to try to always keep your colon, kidneys, and intestines, and everything else CLEAN  So, I take a natural lax as a regular and find that it's help eliminate that tired/sluggish feeling  Hope that helps

You could do a 3-5 day fast. Drink 1 cup apple juice, 1 cup water, repeat this 6 times a day, and at the end of the day drink 1 cup of prune juice. Do that for 3-5 days and it cleanses your organs. Milk Thistle also aids in cleansing the organs, and can be purchased for a low price ($2-$3) from most bulk herb vendors.

64oz is good...if you weigh 128lbs. From what I've read, if you care to lose weight, you drink half your body weight in ounces (water).

I've also started drinking the Plumsmart (Light). That helps as well. Most of the over the counter cleanses work, but you shouldn't use them on a regular basis. So you need to incorporate items into your diet that help with "moving" things.
  • The lemonade diet is NOT a diet and should not be attempted without proper knowledge and supervision.....

In response to your question: Eat clean. Super clean. Increase plant based, organic foods, water, and decrease/eliminate meats, processed foods, medications (unless perscribed, contact your doctor first.)

Stop caffiene, switch to herbal teas. Do a litle research to use the correct herbs for elimination. Dandelion and fennel are good diuretics and stimulate detoxification. Stay hydrated. Eat more raw foods. Try Miso soup for breakfast to stimulate digestion. Stop eating 3 hours before you go to bed, but make sure you are getting 8 hours of sleep. Drink hot water when you wake to get your bowels moving. The increase of veggies and decrease of meats with help you poop like a champion.

Do gelntl workouts, alot of stretching, like yoga and pilates. Meditate. Get plenty of rest. Don't bother with the so-called detoxes and cleanses they sell in stores. Doing this will cause your bodsy to take over and do what it is meant to do. Detoxify naturally.

    WARNING-GROSS FACTOR TO FOLLOW! LOL
They have some cleansing teas that you can incorporate. Also eating fiber filled foods is good. You drinking water is very good. You also get rid of toxins when you workout and swet. So just think to yourself while you are working out 'its a cleansing'. lol ;-]
When I started working out I could tell my body was flushing toxins from drugs the doctors gave me. My skin actually stung where the swet touched it. Not to mention...really gross factor here.. my swet smelled like someone dropped a bottle of amonia. And I mean it stung my nose and eyes. I didnt realize that it was coming from me and was trying to figure out who dropped a bottle of cleaner in the house (yes...I got my own treadmill lol..good for the embarass factor there!). I couldnt figure that one out as I dont even clean with the stuff! Then I realized it was...gasp and gross...coming from me! yike! This to shall pass...and it did. I dont have those toxins pouring out my sweet anymore..thank goodnes. Now I am an onion..what the heck? lol! So keep up the good work, incorporate a cleansing tea if you want, you can find them in your grocery store with regular teas, and swet those toxins out! Remember....its a cleansing. lol ;-]

Quick disclaimer.... Regardless of if the laxitive is natural or not, it is a stimulant and will cause dependency. Majority of OTC laxitives are made from Senna root, which is natural. It is also leathal if used in excess. Remember, poison Ivy is totally natural. But you wouldn't go out into the woods to pick it for a flower arrangement. Natural laxitives are just as dangerous as anything else if used on a regular basis. If you eat a balanced diet and get ehough rest and hydration, your body won't need a laxitive.

Just my opinion. Feel free to take it or leave it.

I just read another thread about ammonia smelling sweat. It has nothing to do with toxins, your body may be in ketosis. When the body burns fats, it produces ketones, which smell like ammonia. It's supposed to further burn those ketones down into carbon dioxide and water, but it can't always do that.

One reason for that is that you may not be eating enough carbohydrates. The body uses carbs to burn the ketones. Not enough carbs means insufficient energy available to burn the ketones, so they get out into your bloodstream and eventually into your lungs and sweat, where you can smell them.

Alternatively, it may indicate a problem with carbohydrate metabolism. Drinking too much can do that to you. So can diabetes (Found above info on http://askville.amazon.com)
