Just Dance 4

So I've just finished playing Just Dance 4. Played for about 20 minutes doing the standard songs then had a shot at Just Sweat doing a 25 minute dance around the world workout. Lasted 28 and a half minutes but it says it only burned 65 calories. Now, this just can't be right... Its really intense and I'm actually dripping with sweat. I would say its just like a zumba class.
Obviously being overweight I would be burning more calories than it says but even if you were in shape, it seems like a rather low amount.
Trying to log this in my diary and just not sure how to do so. Any ideas or anyone else who plays this?

I've played and you can burn a decent amount of calories, but I wore my heart rate monitor to get an estimate of calories burned. I can't remember the exact numbers though.
You can log it as dance for x amount of minutes and use the number MFP gives you, or manually lower the number so you don't eat back too many calories. Don't forget though that there are frequent breaks in between the standard songs where you wouldn't be moving.0 -
Would you suggest dance, general? It gives 400+ calories for 45 minutes. I really need to get a HRM to get some sort of workable average. Didn't really have long breaks between the songs as I knew which I was putting on next so about a minute of rest. I did 5 songs then the 28 minutes of just sweat.0

For myself, I know I wouldn't have burned that many calories in that time frame. I would lower it to like 200, or wouldn't log it at all because I would consider it an extra activity, like walking my dog. (just for fun, not really for exercise). This way I wouldn't eat back too many calories and negate the whole thing.
HOWEVER, that's just me. If you know you worked your butt off, and are doing it primarily for fitness, then maybe you did burn that many. It's really hard to say just by going off what the game says, so you will need to decide and put in what you feel is right.0 -
I log my Just Dance 2014 gameplay as "Dancing, general", as opposed to aerobic. I'm interesting in an HRM to see how accurate it is, but for the time being, I'm fine going with whatever MFP says. Also, in the kinect settings, you can enter in your height and weight, I believe. Maybe that would change the calorie count? I know for the Xbox One, I don't see an option for that, but pretty sure for the 360 that option is there.0

I average about 200 calories per half hour when doing just dance on the wii! It does work because I lost 20 lbs once with no diet changes and just an hour of dancing a night! It's always better to underestimate calories out and over estimate calories in which I learned the hard way!
In the diary I created a new exercise called just dance 2014 and said for 30 minutes I burned 200 calories....after my fitness pal saves it to your exercises for later and you can adjust the amounts the next time you enter if you do it longer, and the calories will adjust too!
This is my favorite way to exercise because it's so fun I have all 5 of them0 -
Thanks everyone. I put it in my diary as 350 calories as the dance, general seemed a bit too generous. Zumba class is usually about 500 for an hour so it seems sort of right-ish.
Its great, I have just dance 4 and 2014 and a few dance central games too.0 -
I found out there is a lot of varations between MPF, xbox, and HRM. I was doing about 40 minuties of Zumba Rush the I got three different numbers for calorie burn. the XBox said I did 1026, MFP said ~560, and my HRM (note: it did slip on me and loose connection with my skin a lot) said 156 cals. So I think you need to take a lot of this with a grain of salt.0

I did 32 minutes of Just Dance 4 (The Sweat Cardio mode) and was dancing intense throughout the whole thing and I burned 489 calories. The more energy you put into the workout, the more you burn. Obviously, the calories via the game will be different to the actual calories you burn via a heart rate monitor.0
