30 day abs challenge

I want something to improve my core strength and my abs. I'm not bothered about having the abs show through my belly fat (and I know that I'd have to do cardio and modify my diet to really get that to happen) , but I would like to be able to complete this challenge.
I'm thinking of it in the same terms as the couch to 10k running programme - that programme is good for newbies to running, is designed so as to not damage your knees and is an excellent way to build up fitness and stamina without wrecking your body. Is this abs challenge the equivalent for core strength?
