Advice. Cardio v weights

In terms of general circuit training, there have been a couple of studies that suggest that alternating standard lifting exercises -- on machines, no less--with frequent short cardio intervals can have a positive effect on both weight loss and decreased DOMS.
In one study they did 3 sets of 8 basic strength exercises, at a moderate intensity. In between each set, subjects did 60 sec of cardio--not easy, but not HIIT either.
I've never tried it since I work in a large center and the logistics of moving quickly to a cardio piece from a strength piece make it not feasible. And it certainly would NOT provide the benefits of a dedicated lifting program. But I have thought it might be an interesting workout for someone in the early phase of a program.0
