Can BMR go up and down with Menstrual Cycle/hormones?

I do know when you're on your period, you burn a few extra calories. I don't imagine it is significantly more, though.0

Since your weight typically goes up during your TOM, it stands to reason so will your BMR. It would be a false reading since the water retention will mask your true weight.0

Your BMR actually does rise after ovulation and decreases again at menstruation. Not significantly enough that you can eat all you want or anything like that, but that's why you get so hungry during PMS.
