Proves its a lifestyle change not a diet.....you dont have to cut anything out completely just use in moderation and make simple sustainable changes

    ETA:I agree with your take...I listened to this on HLN this morning and found it interesting myself as I love my cold diet coke and wont be giving it up...goes well with my chocolate at night.

    Okay...I read the article.

    I will preface by saying that I drink 1-2 diet cokes a day so I am NOT an advocate of giving them up obviously.

    To make a long story short...I don't think that article proves anything.

    While the diet drink consumers lost more weight you also have to take a look at what the non-drinkers replaced it with...the article doesn't tell us. The article did not tell us that they only drank water.

    Also keep in mind...this is the title of the article...

    "Diet soda helps weight loss, industry-funded study finds"

    The diet soda industry funded this study...did you expect them to tells us otherwise???
