Chicken Sausage--Sides

What do you serve with Chicken Sausage? I bought it for the first time, Roasted Garlic, if it makes a difference. Normally I do a starch and a veggie as my sides, whatever I have on hand, it's often sweet potato or quiona for the former & some kind of frozen veggie medley for the latter. My protein is often some form of chicken (dont eat red meat) so I suppose it could work but was hoping for more creative suggestions. This would be a dinner. 500 Cal max because of the way my calorie distribution has to be

  • may i recommend a feijoada

typically a stew of beans and pork served over rice but i like to use ground chicken or turkey instead, full of carbs and protein to give you energy to power workouts and considerably low in fat, its all in the spices and herb used, full of flavor and good for you

use it along with zucchini and strips of red peppers in a fiery tomato pasta sauce over any grain/pasta you like - Chicken Sausage Arrabbiata.
Or just stuff Peppers with a mix of sausage, onions & mushrooms and roast them.

When I think of sausages I think of mashed potatoes and gravy (I know I shouldn't be thinking these awful things) but I think a good compliment as a side would perhaps be a turnip & sweet potato mashed or carrot with sweet potatoes mashed (2 parts turnip or carrot 1 part sweet potato). Toss in a teaspoon of minced garlic & sea salt & pepper for taste.

That would be a good way to make it Sausage & "Mash" without adding a lot of extra sugar or calories (or gravy for that matter). As for the sausage itself well, Montreal steak meat seasoning is my go to staple seasoning for all meat it just makes everything taste amazing. Corn on the cob would also compliment this dish (of course, only use full fat butter if you use it).

last weekend I had a chicken-sausage in my spaghetti sauce.
It was delicious too. Depending on your taste, you could
make an omelette with it too. I'm sure the possibilities are
    endless.:)
