constantly thinking about food..?

Okay, am I the only one that, especially since starting my weightloss/healthy life journey, think about food constantly? Like, what am I going to eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks all day long? I've been losing weight and staying on track but it is really bothering me that I cannot stop thinking about food. Will it get easier? Is it just my mind playing tricks on me to eat that pumpkin cake in the fridge??? I really hope this is normal

I still think of food all the time: I LOVE IT!!! The trick is I think, to get rid of the junk food in the house and refocus your thinking so you think about eating healthier options instead. In the beginning you have to force yourself a bit too, like chuck out the cake and shove an apple in your mouth instead when you want to eat, or a banana ( bit sweeter). Soon after you have weaned yourself off the fats and sugars you'll crave healthier foods instead of them.0

That is totally me too. And then I'm always planning my next meal/snack, even if I JUST finished a meal.
Unfortunately right now, it consumes my thoughts, but I like to put a positive spin on it - like I'm taking control, and have the say of what I am putting in my mouth!0 -
Are you kidding? I watch Food Network food porn and torture myself0

One of the best things I've ever done to combat thinking about what I'm going to eat throughout the day, is to actually PLAN what I'm going to eat, and set times for meals. If you take the time to do this each evening, you may find yourself sticking to the plan! This way, you know when your next meal will be, you know what you will eat! I also spent a lot of time learning how to savor what I'm eating, rather than just munching it down. Good luck!0

I go through this all the time...since I like to plan my meals for the day I try to get it out of my system. I've started planning for the week as well and adjust as needed. I still find myself thinking about food a good portion of the day...you can splurge every so often if you resist 100% of the time you will eventually cave in and it won't be pretty. So enjoy it all in moderation and focus on eating the healthier foods more often0

I think it's normal, especially in the beginning. After a while you get used to eating less crap and eating more healthy foods, and you instinctively want your 8 glasses of water. Even eating within your calorie range becomes more intuitive and less forced. I lost 10 lbs to get where I am now and kept it off from developing good habits. Hopefully after losing a few more pounds I'll get used to an even healthier lifestyle and easily maintain that. In the beginning you obsess over the lost ice cream splits, but in the end you obsess over your new cream-colored yoga pants and your ability to do the splits0

Get rid of the pumpkin cake.
I don't think about food that isn't in my house. Much easier to resist the temptation if the item is still in the grocery store (or in the garbage can).

All of your post have made me feel SANE! Thank you! I've been really good at avoiding that pumpkin cake and all the other TRASH lol unfortuantely i can't throw those things out because I am a nanny and other people eat it. Maybe I'll just hide it during the day All of what you guys have said have really made me realize that instead of letting myself think im "obsessing" over the food, it's just my way of taking control. When I am thinking about food it's not always the bad stuff...it's more of ok what I can eat at my next meal to stay in my boundaries..0

I generally plan out my meals and snacks a day ahead of time, it seems to help.0

I'm with you there! As soon as I began dieting I was dreaming about what to eat the next day! I'm hoping it will get better although I have found exercising has helped me to stop fixating on food. Good Luck I'm sure it will get better.:laugh:0

I think I was born thinking about food all the time. This is normal and is always worse when I am on a diet. Just think of how happy you will be when you go down a jean size! Keep up the good work and remeber we are all with you in the fight! :>)0
