Hello,

I usually cook with olive oil, but I've been interested in trying coconut oil as an alternative, because I've heard it's healthier. My goals are to lose weight/fat and build muscle. Is there a huge difference between the two? I don't want to spend the extra money if it isn't really beneficial.

I have only cooked with coconut oil once, but i use on my skin and my daughter's skin (they have eczema) and it seems to help. I cooked some chicken with it and it was really good! A lot of people I know are switching to that instead of OO.

Each has its own benefits. I would choose whichever is more appropriate for what you're cooking.

I would be interested to see evidence that coconut oil is healthier than extra virgin olive oil. I've never seen any. In fact, I've seen very little research showing health benefits from consuming coconut oil.

Your goals are focused on calories and it would therefore be unnecessary for you to purchase coconut oil, as it will not aid in weight loss or muscle growth specifically. Coconut oil has many valuable uses and it's quite delicious, but there's nothing wrong with olive oil. Coconut oil is solid at room temp, in case that's a changing point for you - like in making fat bombs or something like that.
