Ok, I have three words for you. Youtube. Fitness Blender. Check it out. If you do the elliptical every day, you are going to get pretty bored. There are a ton of free workouts on youtube that are just rocking my world right now. I'm going camping next month and In just a few months of doing them, I am sooo ready for them mountains. Good luck and have fun in Canada!

And i am not a Beach Body coach but they have some VERY good programs i am doing a focusT25 and Les Mills Hybrid right now and they really kick some BUTTS

50lbs in 105 days sounds really unsafe.

I know you want to use your elliptical but on your off days I would second the recommendation of Fitness Blender. They really mix things up over there (<-- Oh look, I made a funny!) and work you hard! This way you'll have some variety. Five days a week on the elliptical would send me round the bend!

Given what you've posted, I'd suggest 30-45 min on the eliptical. Floor work - pushups, mountain climbers, russian twists, bridges, bicycles.

I hear you about wanting to get in shape to go hiking. Don't focus on losing x number of pounds by your trip. Instead, just work on improving your health and fitness before you go. Don't go overboard and cut too many calories and workout too hard; it could be counterproductive if you just end up with little energy or if you make yourself sick. That would definitely make for a bad vacation!

Eat at a moderate deficit, do workouts you enjoy, and eat back a portion of your exercise calories. I had a goal of losing weight to go hiking before my vacation in Colorado last year. I lost about 25lbs, but I was easily able to do an all day hike with my dad; and at the end of the day we were racing a rain storm down the mountain. I set the pace, and we were flying by other hikers. It really is not about what the scale says but about being the best you can be in time for your trip; and that means being healthier, not necessarily being skinnier.

Beachbody, yes, love. Between fitness blender HIIT workouts and Insanity I have gained so much strength in such a short amount of time. When I started I could not do a single Burpee. I just did what I could and got better as I went on. While I'm still not the Burpee queen, I can do them now!

If you are going to be in the mountains in Canada, I would suggest you do a lot of walking, hiking and stairs. Lots and lots of stairs.
I say this as someone who does live in the mountain in Canada.

Even if you are not going to a mountainous area I would still suggest trying to get in as much outside walking/trail experience. That will help more then anything.

Fitness Blender totally rocks. You can search workouts by body part you want to concentrate on, cals you want to burn, length ... all kinds of things. Highly recommend! Checkout the site itself. http://www.fitnessblender.com/

I do the Hustle Up the Hancock every year..so I have to train for climbing.

My fav is the elliptical crosstrainer, you use both your arm and your legs and you can do different settings to focus on your glutes (which is what you use most in that propulsive movement upwards.)

However, this will increase your endurance, real weight loss happens through what you eat.

50 lbs in 105 days?? :noway:

Slow and steady is the way to go. You might lose about 15-20 pounds, but not 50 pounds!!
