Fitbit flex accurate for weight loss?

Are the estimations accurate. I followed it for today. Got in my 10,000 steps and are my calories. It seems like it let's me eat a lot of calories. Have people had success with it? Would you say it is accurate? I'm just worried about it. I don't want to be following bad information. I do like it-alarm clock, steps, calories. Do the 10,000 steps count as exercise or is that just normal people walking per day?
