Starting on clonazepam- will it affect fitness?

So, time to get a little personal.
I have PTSD. Really, really horrible, haven't-slept-through-the-night-in-years, panic-attacks-daily PTSD. The kind that ruins your life- and honestly, if it wasn't for my mom, I'd be homeless by now. It's ruined friendships, relationships, academics (I even dropped out once!), and my health (which was already in tatters after said PTSD-causing stuff).
So I'm on new meds (again). This time clonazepam, an anti-anxiety pill that will hopefully (maybe?) make me sleep through the night for once. But now I'm getting anxious, ironically, about what this will do to my weight loss. I NEED to be losing weight- my current size is aggravating a medical issue that, if it continues to be aggravated will lead to surgery that I do NOT want. However, the same issue is aggravated by my anxiety and lack of sleep- both of which, in a lovely positive feedback loop, aggravate each other. I know my lack of sleep is absolutely contributing to my weight gain- I barely get more than 4 hours at a time and it is fitful and generally horrible.
So my first questions are: Does anyone have any experience with clonazepam? Might it actually make me sleep? I've been on everything from morphine during the original hospitalizations (kept me out for the longest time at 6 hours a pop, but that's obviously not sustainable because I really would rather not end up a morphine addict- it's not the 19th century!!) to melatonin (gets me to sleep, but doesn't keep me out) to NyQuill and ZzzQuill (again, got me asleep but then didn't keep me out). Hopefully, this will at least help with the panics, but I'm really, really hoping it will make me sleep.
Second questions are: How will it affect my weight loss? Will I gain weight? Because that is something I seriously NEED to avoid. I do not want this surgery. Or could it possible (O.o) help me lose?

Hi.... I know PTSD is really a pain with all flashback and panic like symptoms... But dont loose hope... Clonazepam will help u calm down and should help u sleep better.... But how long u ll sleep depends upon the severity of ur symptoms and cross tolerance with other medications...No it has no effect on weight per se... On the contrary may help u to loose weight by giving u good sleep and lessening ur anxiety... Just take the tablets at the stipulated time everyday to avoid any daytime drowsiness...So dont worry... Good luck on your weight loss journey... Just hang in there... Things will only get better...:flowerforyou:0
