does moving burn calories?

My husband and I are moving out of our apartment and he is handling the big stuff like furniture and I'm moving pots pans and clothes and other small stuff. I weigh 96 lbs do I still burn even though I'm not dealing with heavy things? And how many calories would be burned per hour? Thanks guys :)

It's really hard to say how much you would be burning because I have zero idea what kind of effort it would take you to do this activity or how many trips you're taking, etc. But yes, it would burn calories

well, if you do two flights of stairs for each pot and pan

of course you are burning calories - whether it is more than your usual daily activity, and how much. who knows. you can wear a pedometer (or a phone with pedometer app) to gage whether it puts you at a different activity level....

Any type of movement burns calories. Even chewing gum burns calories. So yes, you will burn calories.

yes, moving will burn calories. It is impossible to tell how many calories it will burn.

You burn calories just being alive. Any additional activity beyond just existing burns calories. Picking your nose burns calories.

    Sure it burns calories.

I dont track things like this though as exercise. Just think of it as an added bonus to whatever calories you normally burn!

fyi, OP's goal in this case is recovering from an ED and trying to gain weight.

To OP, if you were trying to lose weight, I would say not to worry about it at all. Since you are trying to gain weight, I'd say maybe add 300ish calories or so.

    Gotcha.
I saw someone mention ED in another thread and thought maybe they were suffering from Erectile Dysfunction....

Thank's for clearing that up! I was just thinking why does a 96 lb person wanna burn calories!

Everything burns calories. You even burn them when you are asleep, it is called BMR, basic metabolic rate. The more you move, the more calories you will burn. Add the pots and plants, this will add even more calories.
You can try logging it here in MFP to see what it comes up with.
Anyhow, good luck with your move.

There's actually an exercise input for "Walking, carrying infant or 15-lb load"; as for the accuracy of this listing, who knows, but it may be a good idea to input your info for it.

When I listed 60 minutes for this entry, it said "274 calories burned".

    Just a thought! :)
