Activty Level

Probably a dumb question to ask.

Usually on my 2 off days throughout the week, I go for a 4 mile walk. From my results, I average a speed of 3mph, so walking 4 miles in about an 1 hour 20 minutes.

Anyway, I'm thinking about trying to fit this into an everyday thing. I was classifying myself as sedentary, but would this consider me lightly active? I mean, I watching my calories, but I also want to understand my activity level. By pushing a 2 days a week into an everyday thing. I won't feel like I'm just sitting around after work.

I think it probably depends on what level of exertion it takes you to walk those four miles. It seems like it would be right on the edge of sedentary and light activity if you're seated the rest of the day.

If you want to log your exercise, and compare that to your calories, stay the way you are. If you want to give that work up, go up to lightly active. That is, only if you are going to make the change to being active every day.

To answer this set your activity level to sedentary on MFP and your goal loss to something where MFP sets your calories above 1200. Record that number as X.

Now changing nothing else tell MFP you are now lightly active. Look at calorie goal now and record that number as Y.

Finally estimate your calorie burn for your walk. Record that as Z.

Does Y - X = Z or is it close? If so then according to MFP your regular walk qualifies you as lightly active.
