Hi all why do some people add to dairy uncooked / cooked is their a big difference ?:huh:

    most of the MFP actual entries are in raw weights, some are cooked but User entries are usually cooked.

    And yes there is a difference. Depending on cooking methods.

    If you have 4 oz of raw ground beef...regular ground then cook it...i can guarantee it will no longer be 4oz as you have lost a lot of the fat while cooking it...

    As for the calorie count...there is a difference yes...

    Ideally you weigh your food uncooked...and log it as well but if you can't then you log it in the manner in which is was cooked based on the cooked weight.

    Or pasta becomes heavier as it takes on water and swells...

    Weight changes when it is cooked. Some become heavier, some become lighter. So because of that, calories per gram change. So something may have 10 calories per gram when it is raw, but if it becomes lighter when cooked it could suddenly be 12 calories per gram or the opposite if it becomes heaver when cooked, like pasta. It becomes heavier so it is less calories per gram but those grams add up really really really fast.
