Ladies: What changes have you seen regarding PMS

Normally, I have no issue. Ever. Except the slight increase in carb cravings...
But this week has knocked me on my *kitten*. I'm exhausted, my boobs hurt, I'm overly emotional. - very unlike me.
I thought that taking off weight was suppose to help with symptoms not make them worse.
So what about you? What have you experienced?
Any thoughts on what's going on?
thanks!

seems like I get mine more often now but I don't experience cramps no more.
My boobs never get sore - ever since I had my oldest and breast feed.
So the only way I know that I'm about to gt it is if I seem extra tired.0 -
My PMS went away completely, never to return, when I got a divorce.0

Eating less can mean that its harder to get the necessary vitamins, which can affect your TOM. I suggest taking a multivitamin if you aren't already. As far as my TOM, I've had a decrease in severity, duration, less PMS, less cramps, far less bloating, and less water retention. I can't remember if it got worse before it got better or something... but hopefully yours mellows out!0

PREGNANT!?!?0

since my lifestyle change, my whole period is out of wack...and i'm on birth control. I spot a week before my period, and then when i'm suppose to have it, it's not there. I've never had a regular period, but this is ridiculous. I can't get any nookie for two weeks:blushing: i have to admit the physical symptoms are way better, but i'm still a raging b!tch face because i'm so hormonal0

lol
Mine is pretty much the same...but I'm also only lost 14lbs out of 112lbs needed. Maybe there will be changes in the future.0 -
I just had my first one since being on this diet. Normally, I cramp really bad for the first few days and have really really heavy bleeding... This time around I had minor cramping and normaly bleeding... however, it is now on day 10 of bleeding, as opposed to just 7 days... wth! But I had a bad stomach flu the day before it was supposed to end, so maybe that screwed things up.0

PREGNANT!?!?
hahaa. Yeah, I think that's a possibility. but its too soon to know....0 -
I find that I am mild one month, then the next month I'm dealing with MAJOR symptoms. This is normal for me.0

My gyn told me a couple years ago that hormones can be stored in fat, and when the fat is broken down the hormones are released into your system causing an imbalance. According to her when the level of testosterone is higher than the estrogen you get the aggression and short temper. Her advice was to have an orgasm  and get the female hormones reved up, or just ride it out and let it balance out in a few days. As we get older the hormonal swings get wider and longer giving us the "b!tch on wheels" peri menopausal woman. There are pills to help, but for me and my history I can't take them.
Good Luck!0 -

Lol that was my first thought too! First Response and Clear Blue both do tests that you can do before your period is late.0 -

That was my first thought! First Response has a test you can use six days before you miss your period.0 -
thanks everyone for your input, I guess time will tell...
But I sure hope this isn't my future for every month.
D'oh!0 -
I'll have to say I thought "pregnant" also!!0

make sure your reduced calories are good calories. when we start eating lean meats, we tend to eat less red meat, and our iron goes down. look for good quality calories in fresh/frozen fruits and veggies. it really does make a big difference.0

Since I started drinking (water) more, less bloating and less being a cowbag.
Different every month now, including when it starts, when it ends and whether I have other symptoms, like sore nipples. My doc says that has to do with losing fat because fat stores estrogen and when the fat's broken down, you definitely have more estrogen. The variation's a drag because I was always very regular before, but the weight loss makes it all worth it.0 -
thanks everyone! I feel better getting some opinions.0

i super puffy heart this!0 -
I have seen a bummer of a change: Last month I gained almost 2 pounds with my period....(no biggie, right?) WELL, that 2 pounds has not come off in the last 2+ weeks of working out, counting calories, etc! SO, not I'm getting ready for PMS again, only this time 2 pounds heavier! No clue what's going on?!?!?0

I'm in peri menopause & have been making BIG changes over the past 16 months. This is the second month/cycle being processed food free...meaning, we're eating very Mediterranean, whole foods w/the exception of the healthiest choices eating out ie sushi and a Costco frozen yogurt treat once a week...I'm proud to report that other than still getting nervous or "stressed" with company or groups of people, which I blame on the peri menopause...I'm not having any signs of pms anymore. My eating is controlled, average 1400 calories a day, I exercise well and as of yesterday and the end of my last period, I've lost 8 pounds/averaging 2.66 pounds a week.
I use to cave during pms. Hubby would bring home ice cream...I LOVE ice cream...I put a stop to that....then I went for the cold cereal...so I booted that out 2 months ago and that was the last of it to go. So we are a much happier couple
Hope you feel better...it probably does have a lot to do with food choices and if you are getting enough calories and exercise.
I'm not a gynecologist...our hormones do all kinds of wacky stuff to us...if we have more stress than normal in our lives or have thyroid issues, not getting enough rest, why there's any number of things that could be playing a factor into your mood. Evaluate what you're doing and see what can be added or eliminated or if you need to visit the dr for help/guidance0 -
I read that you're a holistic practitioner...I assume you're already eating well...surprised that this has been difficult for you...I'm clueless just hope you feel better.0

Hahahahahahahahaha! Soooo beyond funny!!!!! But wait I got a divorce too and my didn't go away! Not fair! :sad:0

I didn't notice any changes at all in anything after starting MFP. But, I'd been on the same BCP for almost 10 years at that point so everything has pretty much been the same ole same ole for years.
The only thing I've noticed at all is that exactly one week before the day I start I'm ravenous. Like no matter what I eat could never be enough. It's only that one day, thank goodness, because it's my most difficult day every single month to stay on track with my calories.0 -
I start to feel it a full week before I get it. I've noticed in the last two weeks my flow has been a lot lighter. But no cramps. I do gain about 2-3 pounds and I get WAY hungry! Sucks but knowing what to expect helps me control it.0

I had the whole 9... swelling, cramping, moods, boobs hurting, stomach looking and feeling like someone had taken an air pump to it. UGH!! But.... since I started MFP I have had only minor cramping (very tolerable compared to before) and none of the other symptoms! I am sure I was taking in way too much sodium before, which I know contributes to those symptoms. And drinking more water has helped I'm sure.
Not sure why you would be having trouble all of a sudden. Maybe see your Dr?0 -
My doctor changed my pill, now I can eat the fridge door off, and I'm instantly frustrated. It's only been 3 months so I need to give it a bit more time. I gain 5-10 pounds though.0

Pregnant? Sore boobs were a dead giveaway for me along with all your other symptoms. As previously mentioned why dont you try out the first response pg test? :-)0
