5lbs / week

So my fitbit scales (that I got 1 week ago) have just emailed me to say well done you've lost 5lbs...

Mfp gave me a goal of 1200 a week, which I've been near enough hitting every day, and said I would lose 2lbs a week... So maybe I'm not logging properly? Probably not healthy to lose weight so quickly.

I know 1200 isn't enough so I'm gonna increase it, and yes I do weigh myself at the same time each day.

Is this your first week of changing your eating habits? You tend to lose more during the first couple of weeks and then it settle down to the 2 pounds a week. At least that has been my experience that last 1,000 times I started to work on losing weight.

I also have the fitbit scale. It is pretty accurate.

    Good Luck!

Its been about 3 or 4 weeks since I started trying to lose weight but the 5lbs has just been for the past week. Maybe it is just water retention

If it's your first week, that's why it's high. I lost 6 lb my first week. No change the 2nd week.

Oh OK I have just rechecked my charts and actually I've lost 3.5lbs this week, which seems more sensible.

I don't know where they were getting their figures from on that email!

Some weeks I lose none. Some weeks I lose 4. Water, glygogen, and food still in your system can cause noticble fluctuations.

If you do what MFP suggests, it should be pretty accurate over the long run. It was for me. So since you lost 3.5 this week, don't freak out and post that you've hit a plateau when you don't see any movement a week or so down the line. =)

You cannot judge fat loss from one week of scale weight data.
