Hello, here goes I had a huge issue few weeks back cause i was eating under 1200 kcal, which slowed my metabolism & progress, I've upped my kcals drastically after a lot of research, & advice from some MFP friends, which has increased my weight loss woo! But I've only consumed 600kcal today Will it have the same affect as before even if its just for one day, I'm not planning on making a habit of this I'm just not very well and have no appetite it took me 2 attempts over 4hours to eat a sandwich, I've made sure I've kept well hydrated.. Any information is appreciated, thanks

It's pretty bad for you. We are all made of organs and cells...everytime you eat under 1200 you are damaging your body, slowly obviously but it adds up. Your heart, brain, liver, kidneys, etc require 1200 calories a day to function. If you don't eat 1200 it takes it from your body (not all fat stores either, mostly lean tissue like muscle - and eventually your organs). That slows your metabolism and also is horrible for your health. I have gastroparesis and other stomach issues and even I eat more than 600 a day. Does it make me sick? Yes, sometimes, but it's important to eat. If you can't eat more than that you should go to a GI dr. Sometimes you have to eat more to actually get an appetite. One day will not affect you, but one day leads to another in most cases, which WILL affect you.0

Thanks for your response, it is just that av not been well for a couple o days I've managed to keep it above 1200 cause I know long term is bad but today has been a real struggle, I usually eat around 1580kcal a day just couldn't stomach well anything really today.. I'll be back to normal tomorrow as am feeling a bit better, I hope if not at least above 1200kcal0
