OK so I just read this article and I want your thoughts on it, is it true or not?
HERE IT IS >>>When obese people followed a reduced-calorie diet that included three 6-ounce servings of calcium-rich yogurt a day, they lost a whopping 61 percent more fat overall -- and 81 percent more fat around their waists -- compared with those who didn't eat yogurt. Why? Turns out the calcium in yogurt may hinder fat storage and boost fat loss. And calcium-rich dairy products like yogurt may contain additional fat-burning compounds as well

So what do ya think? Is it true? Cuz honestly, I dont like yogurt but if it will help me that much, I will plug my nose and eat it anyways

Drink milk instead. Or eat some cheese. It's the calcium that does it. And yes, it works in my opinion.

I like yogurt alot, and I could definitely eat more of it. After doing some research online I found a few articles about this.

First off, it to sell yogart.

Some foods are better for you than others, but there is no one "Magic Food" or pill. As in all things, moderation.

Just like all those that think they have to empty their body cause some add tells them it best for you. We belive anything that we think is a fast fix.

I dont see how eating the yogurt would help that much except you would be filling up on it and not eating other fattening things. I think it is simply calories in calories out. I have been eating yogurt every morning for breakfast though and I am losing consistantly. I have lost 32lbs in a little over 3 months, so I think I will stick with the yogurt because it is working , heehee....

it sounds reasonable. Plus i have been eating yogurt as a part of my eating plan, for breakfast and sometimes for a snack. I have been loosing weight. Dont know if its the yogurt or the fact that im just sticking to my calorie plan. But it aint broke, so im not gonna fix it! im gonna keep doing what has been working for me so far.

And it doesnt hurt that I collect coupons for yogurt as well.

Amarillo is on target! The first thing you have to consider when you read a study is WHO funded the study? The majority of the time when a study puts a lot of weight in ONE PRODUCT and then backs it up with factual information about the nutrients IN the product, then you can almost always count on the study being funded by the manufacturer of the product.

Calcium is important for MANY reasons and it can be found in all dairy products as well as leafy greens. You need 2 - 3 servings of dairy per day. If you like yogurt, then go for it! Search for low fat yogurt. Greek yogurt is higher in protein. :) But if you just can't stand the stuff there are just as many benefits in skim milk (8 oz counts as a serving), cheese (look for reduced fat and watch the sodium), pudding (sugar free).....cottage cheese is excellent.

There is no one product that will provide a magical cure. Its all about BALANCE. A well balanced and healthy diet will provide the needed essential nutrients.

    Hope this helps! :)

The sugar content in yogurt can be a downfall- typically 15gper cup-is basically candy. Try to find sugar free. Greek yogurt is better. Or aim for milks and cheeses. Yummm

I used to detest yoghurt  but now I love the stuff.

I started off by eating the yoghurt with fruit bits in, then I got accustomed to the taste and now like all yoghurts, whether they have fruit bits in or not.

yummy yummy yummy yoghurts!!

I second this; poster above you ^ states to get low fat. But if your purchasing low fat yogurt, then your going to have a ton more sugar in there then FULL FAT yogurt. Fat is not the enemy. If you want to keep loosing weight; keep carbs closer to 30g's per day (based on a 5'6" 145lb woman) and then go for low fat (which means that you can't have much more than 2 yogurts a day and that's ALL your sugar intake). Or opt for next to no carbs like leafy greens and have all the fat you want that's what i do and i LOVE IT!

Actually the tone of my post wasn't meant at all to focus on the type of yogurt a person should consume. I love how two very short sentences out of my entire post have been critiqued.

My dear friend, Nowic.....indeed low fat yogurt would contain more sugar than full fat yogurt. Please pardon me for not pointing that fact out, however I thought it was more important (since you stated you aren't a fan of yogurt anyway) that you realize that such a study may well be biased and that you can get the benefits of calcium through other dairy products. Should you want to discuss carbs, well, you know where to find me!

    HUGS!

If you decide to try yogurt, definitely try Greek yogurt! That's what I eat and I looooove it!
