Do I have this TDEE/BMR thing right this time?

In the past, i have lost some weight, slowly. I am at it again, and I just revisited the topic of TDEE./BMR, and I think I was doing it wrong last time. I had calculated my BMR/TDEE using iifym caculator, using sedentary because I have a desk job. I was eating TDEE-20%, and on the days i exercised, I would usually eat back some or most of my calories. So essentially, I was eating at full TDEE, right?

This time if i understand it right, I am to calculate my TDEE using sedentary again, and my calories should be TDEE-20%, and I should NOT eat back the calories, right? I am certain about my activity level. I have not been exercising on a regular basis. Now that I am trying to get in shape I have been and will be getting in an hour a day for at least 4 days of the week. I hope to join the gym soon as well. Is this enough exercise to help me lose weight?

I know this type of question has been asked many times, and before anyone says it, yes, I have gone over the boards and read the stickys and searched for specific TDEE/BMR information. I just want to make sure I am understanding it correctly. Thanks guys!!!

    no...

TDEE needs to include any exercise you do. So if you choose to use TDEE method you calculate it with exercise.

So you do not calculate your TDEE at sedentary...and no you don't eat exercise calories back with TDEE...because it's already calculated in.

Prior no you weren't eating full TDEE..you weren't using TDEE method you were using NEAT.

Exercise is not for weight loss....a calorie deficit is...exercise is for health and fitness.
