So I made it to Friday night with a fabulous week (well couple of weeks really) with lots of exercise and good eating. And tonight the cravings are really hitting me hard. I am not hungry, I ate well all day, drank tons of water, tried brushing my teeth, taking a walk, distracting myself with cleaning, but all I can think about is going to the store for something sweet and something salty. and all this halloween candy around isnt helping much. HEEELLLPPPPP :( I dont wanna waste a good week. any ideas other than like locking the door and throwing away the key? I dont like this helpless feeling.

eat something, something you like but that is healthy if you just must eat I applaud all of the things you have done so far to resist temptation. Every now and then I feel that way, but it passes within a short while.
  • Chew a favorite gum
  • Sometimes it's best to just give in to a craving and have JUST A LITTLE! That way you are calming the craving. I know that if I'm having a craving for something, if I don't satisfy it, I will eat EVERYTHING else to try and stop craving the one thing I really want. Let's face it, you aren't going to be "dieting" forever, so we should all make the lifestyle change of having just a little bit. :)

I agree with having what you crave too, as long as you can have just a couple of bites and then stop. But if you can't, then it might be best to resist until you can work it into your calories for another day
  • i am having a nature valley pecan crunch granola bar. 190 calories

Thanks for the advice guys :) I actually dont really trust myself to have only a little of anything right now, I already had chocolate and went a little overboard on that. Im chewing gum now and I drew my fitness goals on a piece of cardboard so i can visually see what I completed this week, and see what my goal for the next two weeks is. that helped a lot :)

Buy some Good Earth Caffeine Free Original tea in Sweet & Spicy. Works for me with the nightime cravings. It tasts like liquid gingersnaps. A second alternative - but not as good (and it has some calories) is the Diet Swiss Miss. Good luck!
  • If yours looking for sweets makes some jello. You can eat a whole box of it and hardly consume any calories. Also, I have seen some weight watchers ice cream bars that are only 100 calories...I have never tried them so I am not sure what they taste like but just thought i would throw that out there. Maybe put in a good movie so you get distracted and then just jump in bed.

Extra gum came out with a desert delight line of gum. So far I have had Key Lime Pie, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Strawberry shortcake. Plus it is only 5 calories! I find that when I am craving something sweet this does the trick. Not only does it taste EXACTLY like the flavor it says, it is something to chew on. I know if I am chewing on something that helps the craving also.

If your looking for something salty, I buy Orville Redenbaucher's (sp?) Smart Pop, 100 calories. You can dress popcorn up how you like. Sometimes I put a little Parmesan cheese and a little garlic powder. Yum.

Kettle Corn popcorn usually satisfies my sweet/salty craving... I also love sugar free chocolate jello pudding with some fat free whip cream on top... and the Sweet Chili flavor Quaker "Quakes" have replaced our (even my husband's) regular potato chips... b/c they are so good!!!

It is good that you don't have the tempting stuff in the house and you would physically have to drive to get it... kudos for you on that! Come up with some healthier options that will accomplish the same goal for you... that way you do not feel restricted and end up binging. You can do it! Awesome that you came online for advice/to vent when you needed it... that is a huge accomplishment! You've got this!!
