My friend once told me she uses the motto, save room or make room. What do you think?

If I go over my calories in a day at the end of the day I try to add a work out to ensure that I dont go over my count (Making room theory) . I am not sure it even helps, I know its not hurting anything. I just thought I would get your opinion.

Thanks!

I think it all depends on what works for you. Sometimes, my days are so busy and hectic that I can't fit in a workout, so I just make sure to eat lower during the day and save calories for dinner. Also, pre-logging your meals and planning out what you're going to have helps too.

You just have to find whatever works for you. I stagger my calories throughout the week so that i have some left over for when I want something special. Since changing my eating habits, i've never went over and then tried to work it off.

Making room doesn't work for me. I tried it for 2 months and my weight was stagnant.

If I "save room" it works much better for my weight loss. Basically plan my meals thru the day so I'm never hungry and I never go over my set cals, it doesn't matter whether or not I do exercise, if I've saved my cals I never go over.

But, if I do happen to go over, my cals spill over to the next day and I have to eat considerably less the next day and that really teaches me a lesson about indulging more than I should have :)
