Appetite increase after starting more intense workouts

Hi all,
As the title says, I'm concerned about my appetite. I've never had a problem eating at or over my calorie limits, so I'm very concerned. In the last month or so, I've upped my number of workouts and added in more intense workouts and I've been starving. I don't like this; I thought exercise was supposed to help decrease appetite. If I was simply hungry for a bit more, great, but we're talking famished, can't eat enough, real hunger (i.e. a salad looks as good to me as cookies). I can easily eat back more than I burned, which would negate my exercise, and worse, cause gain.
Should I increase my protein, change my macros, etc? I really want to continue with the harder workouts to continue to improve my health but don't see the point if I'll end up fat again. Will my body eventually sort this out?
Please help. Thanks!

Totally normal! When you switch up your workouts and go more intense or lift heavier weights your metabolism skyrockets and the result is a crazy increase in appetite! Keep doing what you're doing, it means it's working! Just think about eating more protein and fibre to help satiate that crazy metabolism of yours! You may also want to add in an extra small snack throughout the day and make sure you're eating every 2.5 - 3 hours!

Thanks for the reply. Friend request sent. I think my cousin is doing the T25 program; she loves it! You are so inspirational, by the way - great job on your progress.
Today is much better. Started the day with protein and had veggies, protein, and yes, some fat, at lunch. Focusing on real foods today and the appetite isn't crazy. I'll have to watch it with the heavy exercise days to ensure I get the right nutrients0
