Okay so I just got Rachael Ray's look and cook cookbook (I pre-ordered this before it started my weight loss journey). The food looks so yummy but have no nutrition facts for them. I'm wondering if I should send the cookbook back to offset my urge to cook them or should I be okay with just portion control? It might seem like a stupid question but i'm really torn.. Please help!

I bet there are ways to substitute a lot of ingredients to make them healthier.

I, personally, would keep the cookbook. You can always calculate the calories, etc yourself as you do it. Almost all foods and spices now contain nutritional information on the package - so when you prepare the recipe, look at the packaging, identify the amount you are using, and create your own MFP recipe. You can determine the number of servings based on what MFP would recommend - i.e. a serving of meat is about 4 oz. etc. I love the cookbook I have of hers - and I'm pretty sure I would never give it away or send a different one back.

    Good luck

Yea keep the cook book, and just calculate the nutrition the 1st time you make and write it at the bottom of the page so you know for future.

you can enter the recipes on here and it'll calculate things for you. I'd also probably choose the lower calorie/fat/sodium ingredients instead of what she calls for.

I personally LOVE Rachael Ray! I have all of her cookbooks and get her magazine..lol. She always adds flavor with fresh herbs and spices. I don't actually find a lot of her stuff to be unhealthy, she normally prepares it healthier. Sometimes I do modify some things, but I generally don't have to.

    Good luck!
