I just brown 1 lb ground turkey with a chopped onion, chopped green pepper, a few cloves of garlic, pepper and a dash of salt. Once its cooked, I add in crushed tomatoes (usually about 3 cans), 2 cans of rinsed kidney beans, and chili powder to taste. No real recipe just throw in what I have. You could also add a can of dark beer, water, tomato juice, etc. depending on the consistency you want it.

Very similar to how I make it. Do a huge batch and freeze meal-size amounts.

I use 93% lean ground beef in mine or leaner if I can find the 97% lean, because it is leaner then the ground turkey they sell here. You could easily substitute ground turkey if you have it on and though. I've done it with ground turkey before (when I lived in a city where I could get lean ground turkey instead of the 85% stuff they sell here) and it doesn't change the taste much. I like this better then the canned beans that so many people use because it keeps the sodium down to a healthier level for my DH who has high blood pressure. Here's the info from where I put it in here.

    Per Serving:
    Calories--248
    Carbs--34
    Fat--4
    Protein--19
    Fiber--8
    Sodium--340

The recipe actually makes about 20 servings, so you may have to adjust it to how many you are feeding. This is also pretty spicy to some people, so you may want to tone it down by cutting out the peppers and/or cutting out the crushed red pepper.

    Here's the recipe:

    93% lean ground beef--2 pounds
    pinto beans--1 bag
    kidney beans--1 bag
    small red beans--1 bag
    Onion--1 whole
Jalapeño or Serrano peppers--To taste (I use about 12)
    Chili Powder--6 tablespoons
    Crushed Red Pepper--2 tablespoons
Spaghetti Sauce--1 large can (about 32 ounces)
Water--8 to 12 cups depending on how thick you like it
    1 cup flour
    2 cups cold water

Boil the beans until tender. (3-4 hours) Drain. Brown the ground beef with the chopped onion. Drain. In separate bowl, combine 2 cups cold water with 1 cup flour. Mix until smooth. Combine beans and meat with 8-12 cups of water. Add seasonings, peppers, and spaghetti sauce. Slowly add the flour mixture to avoid lumps. Cook on low until peppers are tender and flavors have blended.

If you've never tried the WW Taco Soup, I think it is a great alternative to chili. Sometimes I crave that more! The only thing to watch out for is sodium. Lots of canned beans and tomatoes makes to sodium high. I rinse my beans really well and add some water to cut the salt.
