I am technically not overweight according to the BMI charts/doctor, but my body still looks quite fat and flabby. I run everyday for about 30-40 min. plus I am always walking. I eat small and frequent meals that are relatively healthy. What should I be doing to lose the last few stubborn pounds? What has helped you? and is there a specific type of exercise that can make me look less flabby?

Reply loosing the last few pounds is the hardest part, i should know ive been trying for ages...

You need to make sure you mix up your training and your food...

For instance... your body will be used to running that distance all the time... break it up with interval training ... ie: sprint than jog

Your body will get to a point in its training your it will adapt to what your doing and you wont see any results unless you mix it up... try other exercise like boxing or weights ...
  • Maybe you could try pilates or yoga? Are you working out with weights?
Just a couple ideas, hope something works!

I would suggest mixing it up. Our bodies get used to doing the same things and then dont respond as quickly.Maybe do some bike riding or I would start doing some strength training, maybe get some resistance bands, I just got some from bodylastics they have a website you can follow that gives you daily exercise videos to follow along with the bands. I hope this helps

Muscle, if it's not very toned can look kinda like fat, sorta floppy and squishy. You can do some weight training to tone and tighten up. Do 3 sets of 12-15 reps with a weight that makes the last few reps a struggle. You can also up the mileage you're running, either by going for 50-60 minutes or by going faster or both. A combination of increased cardio and the weight lifting would probably be the best though to tighten up. 3 or 4 days of running and 3 days of lifting a week.

I wouldn't be too obsessed with the number on the scale at this point. The weight lifting might add a few pounds of muscle, but make you look better, so break out a camera and take pictures in front of a mirror every month or so to see how you're doing.

You need to tone your muscles. LD Running is more of a muscle eater (look at the physique of a distance runner to one of a sprinter) so you defo need to supplement with load bearing exercise.

    Good luck :flowerforyou:
  • maybe change up your macro nutrient ratio. Try more protien and then either less carbs (what I do) or less fat to keep within your calorie range. I choose to limit my starchy carbs and eat more veggies and healthy fats and then keep my protien high... the protien and fibre and water in the veggies keeps me full and the fats keep me feeling satisfied :) Like a huge plate of veggie stirfy with chicken and peanuts... if you avoid the brown rice and add extra veggies you don't feel deprived at all!
