High altitude trip - workout lasting more than 5 mins?

I'll be heading to Colorado Springs for a 3-5 day business trip... not long enough to acclimatize but I want to work out while I'm there. My travel workouts usually look like a 3-4 mile run or 30-45 minutes on an elliptical depending on what the hotel has. It's been a few years, but the last I was in CO I tried running and made it maybe half a mile before deciding high altitude running was not for me.
Should I just resign myself to a lower intensity elliptical, or are there any other recommendations for a good workout in such an environment? The gym has a basic fitness center I can use.
