My favorite is the fat arses in the grocery store that ride around on the store carts. There is nothing wrong with them, they are just too fat to walk. If they'd get off the f'ing cart and walk around the store, they might burn a few calories.

Not technically true. My mom was only slightly overweight until she had a serious back injury so she could not walk nearly as far as she would need to in order to get around in the grocery store. Her lack of mobility (plus eating too much) caused her to gain quite a bit of weight, so she would be one of those "fat arses in the grocery store that ride around on the store carts." You can never tell if somebody has limited mobility due to their weight or if they gained weight due to limited mobility.

ok enough, I have seen this poster around enough to know that he is not a callous jerk, he probably means like most people do and get shamed by people who ASSume that he means EVERYONE that rides a cart is like that when more likely he means the people that can and don't, which I personally agree with, those carts are for people who need them, but you guys get so defensive about it assuming he means everyone cut and dried when using common sense would tell you that is probably not what he is saying. Use a little common sense here and you would probably agree with him. Do you want someone needlessly using a cart your mom or family actually needs? And what I say here really goes for the post below me as well.

This is just ignorant. My mom is overweight and disabled. She's not just fat. She can't walk around the store, it can kill her. Her lungs cannot handle it. She's overweight because of the excess fluid built up around her heart and lungs and not being able to work out.
    Good try though.

    Thank you!

Ok I was just typing a tirade and realized that I should just say that this is one of my many pet peeves.

Another is when people park in the spots for people with small children or that are expecting. NOTE: Having an 8 yr old, or looking to adopt does not count and one to two months pregnant is really pushing it.

someone who's one to two months pregnant may be suffering from morning sickness (which is a misnomer because it usually lasts all day), extreme tiredness or dizziness which would make walking distances difficult. I nearly passed out in mothercare when 2 months pregnant (luckily, being in mothercare, the staff were used to that kind of thing!) it was my first pregnancy and I wasn't used to the extra strain pregnancy can put on your body, even in the early stages. But even when you don't yet look pregnant, pregnancy can take its toll on you. In fact for most women the 2nd trimester is the easiest. The first trimester for many women anything other than lying flat on your back is exhausting and nauseating. ,,,,and it's very individual... some women get morning sickness all day long for the entire pregnancy... others have boundless energy throughout pregnancy.... but in general, the early months of pregnancy are very rough, and the 2nd trimester is a lot easier.

I agree with you about the other things though. Parent and child spaces are to make room for strollers etc, or so pregnant women or women carrying babies in slings. herding toddlers etc don't have to walk far. Older kids can walk (medical issues or disabilities would be an exception, but then that'd be what the disabled parking badge is for).

Thank you for being so judgemental! After all, all disabilities are perfectly easy to see, and nobody ever has a disease that needs more than one quick look to diagnose..

Those spots are for the disabled - with proper markers to be allowed to park there. Who is it to judge whether or not you THINK they have a disability or not?

As for "fat arses"...most of us are or were considered obese - which is why we came to this site in the first place...come on? Really?

Further, those people who park there without the proper identification deserve to be towed - those spots are not for anyone but the disabled.

My husband is a tow truck driver and these types of people piss him off the most.

I have no reason to chime in other than to rant like the rest of you...

parking in a handicapped spot has never even crossed my mind. not an option. I have this right/wrong balance that goes on in my brain and its an issue that has never even crossed it. people who don't realize it is wrong to park in handicapped spots are likely the same people with children locked in their basement and bodies buried in their back yard.

but on the serious side, nothing irks me more than the OTHER parking spaces

Expectant mom spaces, baby spaces...WTH? i'll leave it at that as I see some people are pretty sure they are necessary. I've carried three babies (two easily and one not), wrangled three toddlers and did so just fine in parking spaces 5 through 25 row A.

Lastly, the hybrid/flex fuel parking spaces...uh - since you are burning way less gas and polluting less shouldn't your parking spaces be in the BACK of the parking lot?

    I like you!

of course! I am TOTALLY likeable - and I assume this is a case of great minds think alike

I can be ignorant, I guess, but I'm not talking about people with disabilities or limited lung capacity. For all of you that feel the need to point out my ignorance or intolerance or just feel like you should be defending yourself, you're barking up the wrong tree. The people I am talking about know who I am talkking about. If you feel you need to enlighten me, don't bother. DILLIGAF?

Um, unless you personally know the human in question it isn't worth getting your dander up. Many handicaps are not obvious or visible. If you know the person and they are obviously not struggling with mobility or out of breath and hop skip and jump into the store from the handicapped spot, well then, feel free to neuter or shoot them.

I had a friend who used to use the electric cart all the time. There was nothing wrong with her except being fat.
