Not sure where else to ask about this, but I have a question for my fellow females!
I am just quitting my oral contraceptive. Surely, it will be hell, but I have reasons! So why would a sexually active 20 year old quit birth control?
Many medical problems arose, from major anxiety to IBS symptoms.
But a few years later, I have control over most of it. Now, I have a terrible, unpredictable temper and mood swings! It's only started in the last 4 months or so.
Anyone else experience this kind of thing with contraceptives? Know anyone that has?

Sorry, are you saying that you're not yet off the pill but one reason why you're going off is because of your temper and mood swings?
I'm just a bit confused by your wording.
Whether you're going off the pill or you've been on it for a while and it's making you moody, while unpleasant, it is normal. A lot of girls need to experiment with different types of birth control to figure out what works best for their bodies/minds.0 -
I went on the depo shot which last three months. I had extreme hormone and mood swings plus major weight gain. It was the worst three months of my life. But I am now on the nuva ring and have had no problems with it.0

Sorry! My thoughts can be really scattered. :ohwell:
The temper and mood swings are the current issue, but my past issues include the IBS and anxiety (which have been long term effects).
Maybe some women aren't meant to have birth control at all?0 -

I would suggest an IUD (no hormones!) or the Nuva ring, as the hormones are taken directly through the vagina vs. through your blood stream.
The best person to make these suggestions would be your doctor. I'm not sure you can blame IBS, anxiety and temper on birth control pills.0
