Hey all

I have been counting calories just since this last weekend and last few nights so far I have about 200+ calories remaining at the end of the day.

I do save some so I can enjoy a treat after dinner and workout everyday usually so I can do this.

What do you do with the remaining calories? I mean I know if there are some left that's probably creating a greater deficit which is great I should imagine for weight loss to occur.

I just wondered though what others did when they have calories left each day.

If I want to eat something I do...

I typically eat chocolate as a treat in the evening.

If after that I have calories left I leave them and at the end of the week I look at my weeklly totals and use them then...but I never let them come over to the next week. (not that I have any left after the weekend)

Saying that tho how many are you eating a day? if you are under 1200 make sure you eat them that day...you need to net 1200 calories at least otherwise you are not fueling your body for the next day esp if you exercise.

Depends on how many I end up having left over. 200? A bit of peanut butter does the trick. But less than 50 left, I usually just leave them for the "just in case my counting was a bit off" or "in case my exercise wasn't as long/intense as usual" buffer. Even though the likelihood that I'm off by that much is slim I can't seem to break out of the mindset that the buffer is a good idea. I do try to keep it under 30 calories left at the end of the day, most of the time, though.

My goal is 1330 a day, oh I didn't realise I could use them up another day like at weekends. Is that what you mean steff?

As long as you're eating at a deficit overall, it doesn't matter if you go over your calories one day and are under the next. Lots of people have "cheat" days, which isn't really cheating because if you've saved up enough calories during the week to have a treat at the weekend (for example) then you're still eating at a deficit.

HOWEVER, with cheat days, some people find it hard to resist temptation and can go overboard with their cheat foods/drinks, and actually end up wiping out their calorie deficit and then some...

Yes for example a couple weeks ago I had 800 calories leftover for the week...not because I don't eat...I do..1800 typically a day but that week I just missed 100-200 a day due to being busy. I prelog the week typically so I know on the weekend if I have room for extra treats.

On that saturday I made cheese cake and ate half a piece (that took care of 500) and then had a few drinks...so for the week I was right on goal.

You can see this on the phone app under nutrition - weekly - bar graph.

That being said just make sure you are getting in at least 1200 a day esp if you exercise.
