Favorite activity to reduce soreness

So I completed a very challenging workout on Monday and am dealing with the dreaded two day after DOMS. Yesterday I went to my normal class and did the workout at around 80% normal intensity. Today I was too sore to go, so I went and rowed a slow but steady pace for 5K. Amazingly enough, the pain went away about 500 meters in and didn't return until after my drive back to work. I was just wondering what "active rest" activities people enjoy when their muscles hurt.

Depends. If I have true pain, I won't do anything but a little foam rolling. If it's DOMS and they're mild, I will do what I normally do. If I'm really sore, I will probably foam roll and rest.
I'm mostly a lifter, with a little running thrown in.0 -
Walking or elliptical. Sometimes stationary bike if it's not leg DOMS. Followed by a decent stretch and use of the foam roller.0

Bump! I did some heavy gardening on Sunday and am still sore in my abs and legs from all the digging! Would love to know what helps! :-)0

It's possible to get DOMS somewhere that isn't in the legs.0 -

I'm with this...hot bath works magic on anything that ails ya. Swimming's not bad either if you keep it light.
As for exercise, I'd go slow with a short walk on fairly level terrain when you still have pain. Good luck!0
