Help! Fast Food!

I'm a big fan of fast food! I crave it all the time! I eat out 3-4 times a week!
Like yesterday we were at the mall, and I wasn't feeling hungry, but I was totally craving Japanese food! So I bought me a meal and ate it all, and felt disgusted after it!
What helps you? How do you control yourself with the cravings?
Please, I need any advice, suggestions I can do!

Being able to distinguish hunger from cravings helps.
Seems like you know the difference.
Will power will get you far. You have to want to make the change, nobody can do that for you.0 -
This is going to sound counterintuitive, but it's the only thing that works for me. Just say no. No for a week, or several days. Once you get over that hump, it really won't sound all that good anymore. If you can just fight yourself for a week, try it out. Bring food with you so you have no excuse to go out. Or plan at the beginning of the week, Friday is your going out day, if you make it all week being successful. Maybe by the time Friday rolls around (or whatever day you choose) you will be motivated enough to not want it. Good luck.0

I agree with think48, it's definitely about getting over that first one or two weeks of cravings, and then they go away. They definitely did for me. I had this (probably stupid) plan to reward myself at 15 pounds gone with a dinner out at McDonald's, but when I hit that 15 pounds after a couple of months of working hard at it, I didn't even feel like fast food. If I ever get that craving I might indulge with something small, but I've really overcome most of that. Choosing one day a week to go out might help you regulate how much you eat - tell yourself you're not allowed to eat fast food until that day, and on that day don't binge on it, eat a normal-sized meal. Good luck!0

While the 'say no for a period of time' works at first, it didn't for me long term. There are 3 things that help me. 1. being broke and not being able to afford it. 2. planning my lunches so that I have food already on hand (lunch is my weakness). Its a bonus if the food is something similar to mexican as taco bell is my fave. 3. I did a challenge a couple months ago to not eat fast food for a month and it was quite effective. Maybe I should start another one as its the beginning of November and I did well with being reminded that I'm not to eat it.0

Allow yourself one Cheat Day. But do not over do it. Eat child size protions. Or drink a huge glass of water then eat half of the meal and save the rest.0

This just made me motivated to do a Nov challenge. I've started the thread here, http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/131063-november-fast-food-challenge. If you want to join me, go ahead. It worked for me.0
