Cocoa powder won't dissolve in whey powder shake

This may be a stupid question....
I hate the chocolate flavor they add in whey powder, so I bought the vanilla flavor and tried to add cocoa powder to flavor it. The problem is cocoa doesn't want to dissolve in cold liquid, but the whey powder clumps up in hot liquid. Help please?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know the science behind any of that business, but my best recommendation would be to just keep trying different brands of protein. It took me 4-5 different "tests" of whey to find a brand (and flavors) I actually enjoy.

    Good luck!!

Cocoa powder has 1g of fat per 10g of powder. This means that like many fat containing powders of that ratio, it's going to have a hard time dissolving in room temperature or cold temps. Heat is what's required to dissolve it.

Think of a greasy plate in a sink of cold water. The grease just sits there. Put it in scalding hot water and it disperses.

If you really want to try this, just dissolve the cocoa powder in a small amount of hot liquid and prepare your protein powder in it's usual cold way, then mix. Or just find a brand that suits your tastes to begin with.

There is a science to mixing cocoa powder. I was totally amazed. You have to put the powder in a cup first and add a small amount of liquid to mix it up. Make it like batter consistency or so. Then you should be able to add that to your protein drink. The weird part is if you put the water in a cup and add the powder, no amount of mixing/stirring or whatever will mix that powder in. Experiment and you'll see what it does.

    Good luck

I just tried Chike protein and it's really good. I can't stand the metal taste that protein powders have and so far none of the samples I have tried taste that way.
