Pain in my foot....

I have been losing weight (currently over 75 lbs), but still weigh over 200 lbs. I recently started speed walking/jogging. The past week the top of my foot from my outer ankle bone and around the top of my foot to the other side of my inner ankle bone has been hurting. After my jog last night, it started to cause even more pain. It doesn't hurt if I'm just sitting, but when I put pressure on my foot, it aches, and if I try to move it from side to side it causing a slight pain. Is this normal to have pains when you first start jogging or am I possibly pushing my body too hard too fast? My husband thinks it's just because my feet aren't used to the pressure of the jogging, but I've had a friend tell me it could be a stress fracture???

Just looking for opinions before running to the doctor and look like a fool.

Thanks!

Never a fool for going to the doctor for pain. Pain is different than ache. If it's pain, it's your body telling you something is wrong. Get it checked by a doc.

Doctors are always a good way to go for actual pain that seems out of place.

I found running quite a bit different than walking when I did it all the time in my twenties. A really good fit on a well designed shoe was pretty critical to keeping my feet, shins, legs happy.

If the doc gives you a clear and you can afford it, a running shoe store that focuses on running shoes would be a good place to start.

Thank you. I'm going to rest it for a couple days, and if it doesn't feel better, I will see a doctor :) Oh, and I will invest in a better pair of running shoes.
