Measuring pasta - uncooked or cooked?

For about a week I've been eating about 1 to 2 cups of pasta (Barilla Whole Wheat Rotini). This measures to 56g or 112g.

Today, I measured the 2oz (112g) after cooking and it came out to a whopping 384g.

I've read multiple threads (http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/216638-uncooked-pasta-to-cooked-pasta and http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/837303-how-do-you-fiqure-up-dry-pasta-verse-cooked-pasta) and I just wanted to make sure that I'm supposed to measure the pasta BEFORE coking it for the most accurate measurements, correct?

Despite Myfitnesspal having cooked options, I can't use that simply because I am not sure how much water was absorbed in the pasta that specific uploader's info right?

Just making sure I've been measuring properly.

Thanks in advance!

I've never really thought about it, but I've always measured it AFTER cooking as most of the pasta I buy list the nutritional facts for cooked pasta.

I go by what the label says and it says 2oz. dry. So, when I used to eat pasta, I measure out my portion, cook it, them make my husbands portion. I just don't eat it any more. Too much work ;)

Measure it uncooked. The nutrition label usually goes by the dry weight.

I have to weight it cooked...and log it as such.

I cook for 3-4 people and I am not going to dirty another dish just to weigh my pasta/rice uncooked...
