Strength & run half-marathon plan

I do Mon/Wed/Fri strenght training and plan a half - marathon in October 2014. How should I incorporate runs into my week with one day of rest? Due to heavy weight lifting I do not need as much running training as "just" runners. I did 10 km with ease last week.

Is your objective to complete the distance or to achieve a particular time?
You could do HM training on three runs per week, as long as you're not to worried about your performance.0 -
This is my first half-marathon and my goal is simply to complete it without injury.
This plan look ok to me. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/half-marathon-training0 -
Looks pretty gentle on low mileage, so it shouldn't be a huge issue. The only caution I'd have is that in the higher distance weeks the balance of long run to shorter runs is a bit off, but that only affects a quarter of the time.
Just avoid a big leg day before the long runs.0 -
Thank you very much, I appreciate your advice! Now let's go running and lifting.0

I basically did this. I do strength training/HIIT (CrossFit) 3 times a week and used to run a 5km once a week. Decided to do a 15km run with a friend and easily upped my mileage to 10 miles, I then decided to do a half marathon with the same friend, from the 15km (hill run) on 29th March to doing a Half Marathon 25th May I was comfortable doing a long run only once a week 10-12 miles. Finished in 1:59:11.
I did listen to some advice and checked training plans to make sure I was on schedule, but my advice is listen to your body, you sound like you already have a good fitness base so maybe look at doing a longer race than a 10km as a measure, but like the other advice try not to do too much leg work on consecutive days and rest when needed.0 -
I have tried a few different plans and that one is by far my favorite. I have good luck with it.0
