Exercise & Medication

Not sure if this is in the right section, but hopefully will get a discussion going as it is something I am quite interested in.

Basically, does anyone find the medication they are on affects their ability when it comes to exercise?

I definitely used to, when strength training or during cardio workouts, if I had not eaten correctly then the insulin I was on would cause me to experience a hypo and I would have to stop what I was doing, rest, eat and maybe continue later. Therefore, I know that insulin affected my performance as I would feel weaker and tired and would have to quit my training if a hypo struck.

Now that I am off of insulin (my favourite NSV!) I don't have these issues and feel stronger all the time whilst training and have increased stamina and endurance compared to before when on the insulin.

I am still having to take metformin, gliclazide (SP?) and simvastatin and in all honesty I do not know if this is affecting me (have been on it for too many years) so that is really what has sparked my curiousity regarding this topic. Although recently I dropped the metformin dose quite dramatically so my next goal is to try and become a diet and exercise controlled diabetic.

Anyway, would love to hear other people's stories/experiences or opinions.
