I was the same way! For me controlling my carbs helped me. The more carbs I eat, the more carbs/sugar I wanted! I slowly backed off on carbs, and I craved them less and less. It is a slow process so dont get frustrated! Start by lowering your carbs by 10-15 grams each week. Make sure all your carbs and sugars are healthy like grains and fruits. I currently eat more protein than carbs now, and I dont crave sweets much anymore....with the exception of halloween!! I allowed myself a few treats, and now I am wanting more...so now I am back to low carb diet and It too shall pass!

One thing that helped me also, was find a protein bar or fiber bar that you like, and have that as a sweet treat! I add a little bit of peanut butter to it, and I am good!

    Good Luck!

Oh boy - I've been there, I've stopped and relapsed and stopped again. It's the one bad food that I just can't seem to quit for good.

All I can say is that what does work for me is either:
    1. Stopping eating sugar all together except natural sugar in fruits and dairy. I find after a few days that the craving subsides but it's hard to stick with longterm.
    2. Planning one candy item per day in advance within my calories and having it only at the end of the day if I have stuck to the plan. This gives me that little guarantee that I'll get something sweet later on and helps with the craving.

Good luck and let me know if you find THE answer.
  • I have been doing ok, untill all the dang Halloween treats got here!~
This evening, I placed the HUGE bag of sinful candy right next to my scale. I don't know yet if its gonna help, but the theory is that I have to almost stand on the scale to get to that bag....so I might avoid it :)

I am a major addict myself. It is my severe weekness. I was bad with candy all this weekend. I had a bag in bed with me, all day yesterday.

I am trying to be good, I have a bag left, but I have put it away, and I am trying willpower, to see if I can be strong enough to ignore.

i am also a member of the candy addict club...after going on a tailspin the last few weeks with all of the halloween candy around i am putting myself on a 10-day no candy challenge...already after 1 day i am under my calories and not craving sweets (well as much) i am hoping to be able to curb my cravings a bit...i usually budget a sweet of some sort into my calorie goal for everyday and i have still managed to lose weight and keep it off...my cravings and self control have just gotten out of control lately...best of luck :)
